Management of industrial reconfigurations to upgrade a military vessel

The French government has commissioned Naval Group to modernise the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier (PACDG) and maintain the vessel in operational condition (MCO Maintien en Condition Opérationnelle), including periods of Major Technical Shutdowns scheduled from the launch of the vessel. 

 

The project :

For the 2nd Major Technical Shutdown, the challenges for the French Navy are : 

  • to immobilise its only aircraft carrier for as short a time as possible, 
  • to obtain a ship with a new operational potential, adapted to the evolution of its missions and operations.
